FAQ's

How would you describe your style?

I create classic, heartfelt images with a focus on connection. Beautiful images rarely just happen, they are created which is why I approach my sessions much like a film director would. I place you in the best light and gently guide you the entire time into beautiful, natural poses. I have plenty of fun prompts that children love and that I use to create natural moments of connection between you all.

How does your pricing work?

I charge an initial session fee which covers my pre-session planning, our time together on location and the post-processing of your images. The session fee doesn’t include any images, giving you the flexibility to select what you like from your personal online proof gallery. You will have the option to purchase digital images as well as printed products including prints, canvases, frames and photobooks all from your online gallery.

What time do sessions take place?

I generally prefer to start my family and maternity sessions in the last hour before sunset, I love working with the last of the golden light from the day and this can help achieve a truly magical feeling in your photos. This time varies from around 7.00 pm in the summer months and is as early as 4.00 pm in the winter months. If this is not convenient for your family we can organise an earlier session.

I like to schedule Newborn sessions at 10am as indoor light is softer and babies are usually happier in the mornings, but again we can adjust this to suit your schedule.

Where will my session take place

We can meet anywhere you like! I am based in Ashtonfield and there are plenty of beautiful places nearby. Morpeth Common, Walka Waterworks or beautiful riverside locations such as the Hinton Bridge or the Melville Ford Bridge to name a few. I'm happy to travel to the perfect location for you; a beach, a park, a paddock, an outdoor space that you love to visit with your family, a special place that means something to you or your own backyard if you prefer! We will discuss options and work it out together. There can be an additional travel charge for locations outside of Maitland, Newcastle and the Hunter Valley area.

Will I receive colour or black and white photos?

The vast majority of the photos you receive in your gallery will be in colour, but I usually include a handful of black and white photos if I think that an image is artistically suited to that look. Black and white versions of colour photos can be provided on request, however an additional processing fee will apply.

Do you take traditional posed shots?

While I will take time to set your family up in comfortable natural looking poses, my focus is on getting your family engaged with one another and catching authentic reactions when you are all in the moment. During our session I will take some photos where everyone is looking at the camera smiling but my main focus is to fill your gallery with images that evoke a feeling and capture a moment. The kind of memory you can look back at when you are 80 and remember the smell of your baby’s hair and the giggle of your little ones.

What happens in bad weather?

I don’t mind shooting when it is overcast and cloudy, we can even work through a sun shower, but if heavy rain or strong wind is predicted we will need to reschedule.

How old should my baby be for a newborn session?

Typically newborn photos are taken when your baby is 10 to 14 days old. This is because they are still tiny and new and generally still in that early sleepy phase. However the beauty of Lifestyle Newborn photography means I can take baby photos for you at any time. If you missed that newborn window that is ok, it’s about capturing the love and connection between you and your baby here and now. My baby posing is natural and doesn’t require babies to be asleep if they don’t want to be.

What payment methods do you accept?

Sessions fees will be invoiced via email and are payable via bank transfer or credit/debit card.
Digital images and products can be purchase with a credit/debit card through your online gallery. We currently do not offer Afterpay or Zip Pay, but if you would like to pay in installments we can invoice you directly for payments via bank transfer. Simply check the "offline payment" option instead of entering your credit card details in the online store and we will contact you to arrange a payment schedule.
Please note that photo sessions will not take place until the session fee is received in full. Digital images and photo products will not be sent until fully paid for.

How do I receive my photos?

All gallery photos from your session will be uploaded to a password protected online proof gallery. This is where you will view your session images and put together a favourites list of the photos you would like. There are a number of image packages available, depending on how many photos you choose (click here for package options). Once you have decided on your final photos, selected your package and full payment has been received you will receive your final gallery. You will be able to download two versions of your photos - a low resolution version which is suitable for emailing and sharing on social media and a high resolution version suitable for large scale printing.

How long until I receive my photos?

Generally within 2 weeks after our session date. This may be longer during busy periods.

Do you offer prints?

We offer a wide range of printed products at competitive prices through our association with a professional printing lab. These options will be available to you after you have purchased your digital images.

You are welcome to organise your own image printing. The high resolution photos you receive are suitable for small and large scale printing.

Photo printing can be tricky to get right, so if you do choose to print your own I highly recommend you use a professional printer to preserve your precious memories, particularly if you are getting large scale or canvas images.

My images are provided to you in a 6 x 4 ratio. Images can be printed in other ratios however be aware that cropping may occur.

I still have questions, can I get more information?
